2008-09-25 wow - I've been quite busy in the last 2 weeks (really no free time, just working) - and if everything works out, on sunday, 28th of september at 09:30 'musik und meer - julian rachlin and friends' will be screened on orf2 (I've been responsible for the concept and the editing). so hopefully you'll find some time watchin it (early in the morning, me knows ;-) - and hopefully you won't be disappointed about the result of the election on sunday! so long, have a nice weekend! |

2008-08-31 hellau - finally again some new lomo galleries: lca008+lca009 and horizon21+22! actually I'm quite busy with my digital slr camera right now - think I'll online some of them soon. and I definitely love this rockin soul track: sam & dave - hold on I'm coming (live) - have a nice week! |

2008-08-09 again new lomo gallery online: fisheye#43 lomos - I like this gallery! and I've youtubed a clip showing camcat documentary shots for the company - find some time and watch it! have a nice weekend! |

2008-08-04 2 new lomo galleries online: lca #006 and #007 - some nice ones in, some bad ones in - like always ;-) since I've used an expired 200asa film there are some real bad ones in - so I'll exclusively use 400asa films in the future to obtain the great lca-look (or I'll try a dia film with cross processing)! have a nice week! |

2008-07-29 2 new galleries online: lca#004-#005 and horizon#19-#20 - think some nice ones are among these lomos (again lots of, no sorting out). have a nice week! |

2008-07-20 again a new fisheye gallery - fisheye#42 lomos here (mostly vienna). and finally I've bought the new tricky album 'knowle west boy' - I always need some time listening to tricky cds - hope I'll like it. and hell is round the corner! and: some strange publishing company (vdm verlag) decided to create a book out of my diploma thesis (actually I don't think it's worth it, and it's definitely way too expansive - but you know, money does change people ;-) - so do me a favour - buy it at amazon and help me earning my living ;-).
fisheye#42 - diploma thesis amazon - neegeh.com - trickyonline.com - lomohome - gelitine pink bunny
so long! |

2008-07-14 I've just uploaded new horizon lomos (#14-#18) (since I wanted a complete overview of the films I didn't sort out the uninteresting ones). I'm already waiting for my new lca-lomos - definitely my favourite toy at moment! and I'm looking forward to the new tricky album - time for some new music! at present I enjoy 'another one' by patrice very much - nice song. and have a look at google maps linked at the gelitine site showing a huge bunny in the mountains (youtube clip showing google maps pics) - me likes it ;-) horizon#14-#18 - lca-lomos#001-#003 - gelitine pink bunny - lomohome have a nice week! |

2008-07-06 hellau - I've just uploaded my first LCA-lomos - I like this camera! maybe you'll find some time clicking through this gallery (mostly lomos from vienna) - and I'm updating my lomo-home from time to time. lca#001-#003 - lomohomes.com/gessman have a nice week! |

2008-07-01 finally a new fisehye gallery (#41) again! and I'm looking forward to my first lca-pics (funny new toy). one of the last books I've read was 'der klavierstimmer' by pascal mercier / peter biere - and I really enjoyed it (lots of very interesting characters, an interesting way of narration, lots of detailed tiny side-stories,...) - I can definitely recommend this book! fisheye#41 - klavierstimmer amazon - pascal mercier wiki so long! |

2008-05-28 2 new galleries I like: fisheye40 (lots of 'the nose knows best' lomos) and horizon12+13 (upper austria, linzfest, st. poelten, vienna, burgtheater, parlament, kaiserwasser,...). lately we've watched 'solino' by fatih akin - another great movie by this director - I definitely do like his movies! and wow! the newest 'profil' shows a pic of joerg haider at the gti-thing in reifnitz with some 'koks and nutten'-shirts-wearing guys - the pic in tiny resolution (till yet the only one I've found online)! great music riddle: are you a music-expert? give the 'find the bands'-pic a try and we'll see! I like it very much, great piece of work and nice riddles with the band names (radiohead, blind melon, smashing pumpkins, ...)! update: watch this clip (burgtheater society watching soccer) from 00:42-01:10 ;-) so long! |

2008-05-14 another vienna horizon lomo gallery here (and I've updated my lomohome)! and since last week was the theatre-weekend we went to 2 concerts last weekend: in upper austria the fm4 stage on the linzfest: deus was absolutely fantastic (long time ago that something thrilled me that much, youtubed suds&soda) and nneka was fine. jennifer rostock was poor (I couldn't enjoy them at all) and gustav was ok. and monday was the rock-day, definitely! acutally I'm not really a fan of kiss - but these made-up high-heels wearing old guys (nearly 60 years old I guess) give you all that the rocker heart can desire: glamrock, a pompous show, guitars that spit fire, explosions over explosions, fire, the guys floating around over the crowd, spitting blood, ... - and last but not least there's been a very interesting audience! and since josef hader is working on a new simon brenner movie (will be in cinemas in autumn) I've read wolf haas' - 'der knochenmann' - and I liked it! before this book I've been reading peter ustinov's - 'der alte mann und mr. smith' - I'd say a quite nice book for reading before you got to sleep (I hope that doesn't sound too devaluating). I hope you can enjoy the fine weather! |

2008-05-08 I've just uploaded a new horizon gallery - finally a gallery again I like! and: the newest nine inch nails album 'the slip' for free download - a fine album! have a nice weekend! |

2008-05-03 j'adore gondry - what a highly talented genius! I loved his first three feature films - and his current one 'be kind rewind' is another great piece of work - find some time and watch it! and youtube is full of sweded videos now - a wonderfull effect (gondry even sweded his own trailer)! actually I've uploaded lots of clips on youtube for the company right now - so if you're bored click here - or go to the tag and watch 'wir huepfen nur aus hoeflichkeit' (stagings until tuesday the 6th). to be honest I wasn't that overwhelmed like the previous compagnie luna production 'der tag an dem dada in seinen kopf stieg' made me feel - but give it a try! and the volkstheater has a quite interesting program this year. so we watched 'geschichten aus dem wienerwald' by oedoen von horvath - I couldn't really enjoy this staging I have to say: the actors (among them was robert palfrader) didn't really convince me, sometimes the humour was quite dumpy, the staging was neither a drama nor a comedy, to me the wrong passages where to long and the other way round, ... and lately we've been to the kunsthalle watching the matthew barney exhibition 'drawing restraint' - I wasnt quite sure about it: he handicapes himself when creating art (maybe that's the art itself) - but I'm not quite sure whether you shouldn't concentrate as much as you can on creating what you want. man - I'm an old grumbler ;-) so long, I'll better stop writing and start doing something - have a nice week! |
![]() |
2008-04-15 I've just uploaded the istanbul horizon gallery and an older horizon gallery(linz, aschach, vienna) - actually not very funny ones - I think I do have to think a bit more and shoot less - trespassing lomo rule#1: 'don't think just shoot' ;-) - maybe you'll find some time visiting my lomo-home. and maybe you'll find some time enjoying the newest compagnie luna production 'wir huepfen nur aus hoeflichkeit' (kurier review) in the theater an der gumpendorfer! |
![]() |
2008-04-11 I just uploaded my istanbul-fisheye-lomos - unfortunately not as nice as I expected them to be , hopefully the horizon lomos will be better!. well - and I recovered some good old music: I re-love the first blind melon album - a very fine cd! and I've nearly forgotten the great 'no rain' video - maybe you'll find some time to watch it and the noir desir-le vent nous porteravideo - what a wonderful and beautiful song! and what a sad story about the singer. |

2008-04-07 yesterday we came back from a very nice short trip to istanbul - what a city: ancient beautiflul buildings, narrow roads (definitely not at ground level ;-), crowds of loud people everywhere - absuletely fascinating! so here youll find some digi-pics - and I'll upload my lomo-pics as soon as I get them! meanwhile an older fisheye gallery #37 (fisheye lomos from upper austria lots of "eskimo-bussi-fotos"; meeting an old friend; a short trip to aschach; linz hauptplatz; cafe carina - 'the one and onlies' in concert on the 1st of april08). have a nice week! |

2008-03-21 man - yesterday we've watched taxidermia by the hungarian director gyoergy palfi - what a movie: a beautiful innovative camera work, a nice look (pale colors), weird and unique characters, good actors and a - let's say - remarkable plot. the story's about three generations of men who each pursue their special "interests and abilities" - I think there are some scenes in the movie that either require a strong stomach or a grotesque kind of humour - to me the pretty fascinating term 'art-core' brings it to the point. so the dvd cover says 'amelie' meets '120 tage von sodom' - just read through the review of this pasolini movie based on the marquis de sade book. maybe a book / movie not fitting to every mood... so long - happy easter and hopefully a better weather this weekend! |
![]() |
2008-03-12 I've just uploaded a new fisheye-gallery (primarily funny hands pics - hopefully there'll be a 50x50i.com product of these lomos once - actually I've got enough of them now for filling a 50seconds spot ;-) and again I fell in love with another fatih akin movie: crossing the bridghe - the sound of istanbul (alexander hacke from the einstuerzenden neubauten leads through this touching music-documentary filled with beautiful moody pictures. the sound of istanbul with its oriental roots, in all kind of music genres, is breathtaking - find some time and watch this documentary full of atmosphere! so long - have a nice weekend! |
![]() |
2008-03-09 yesterday we watched the great josef hader with his 'hader muss weg' program in the volkstheater - I definitely love his deadpan humour! I'd be interesting what a collaboration of josef hader, rainer nikowitz and peter hoermanseder would be like - maybe a fantastic piece of work! very good news: brenner is back! hader plays this great wolf haas charakter again and "der knochenmann" will be in cinemas by the end of this year! this week we've also watched 'no country for old men' by the coen brothers (the book was written by cormac mccarthy) - fine characters (I love the desperate sheriff, the cruel sociopath hunting the "lucky" vietnam veteran - lots of extraordinary characters, indeed!), fine actors, beautiful pictures of texan and mexican landscapes, an interesting plot - definitely worth watching it - but I have to say something was missing to me (I'm always nagging), because it wasn't that convincing like for example the big lebowski or fargo -but find some time and watch the youtubed trailer. and I've also watched another fatih akin movie - 'auf der anderen seite': again a great plot and fabulous charakters and actors! a very good movie to my mind - but it didn't overwhelm me like his 'gegen die wand' and 'im juli'. since we're travelling to istanbul in a few weeks I'm looking forward watching akin's 'crossing the bridge - the sound of istanbul' - according to all accounts another great piece of work! and I'm very curious about today's lower-austrian election results! so long - have a nice week! |

2008-02-29 hellau - I've just uploaded 3 new lomo galleries - maybe you'll find some time: I like the horizon07-gallery the most - followed by some holga05-lomos (I think these have been my last holga lomos since I gave the camera back to a friend of mine)- and last but not least finally an actionsampler-gallery (#09) again - the structure-loving-guy in me really needs these ids to keep an overview ;-) find some time and watch lower-austria's erwin proell speeking about politicans and clergymen (he's got the best slogan ever: "you win - I win - erwin!" - I really love it ;-) - and the goucho boys are great! it's a pity that the weather's getting worse and worse for the weekend (it seems it's always like that) - nevertheless, have a nice weekend! |

2008-02-23 yesterday was fine! enjoying neil young in concert and watching 'im juli' - another movie by fatih akin - and now another favourite movie of mine! the long lasting concert was fine - mr. soul really enjoys walking around on the stage, touching and choosing an instrument after another and he knows how to fascinate his audience with his voice of gold - and this man definitely knows how to rock in the free world - absolutely fascinating! right now I'm looking forward to the concert of nick cave in vienna in may with his bad seeds - I once enjoyed a solo-concert (but it was the grinderman-formation) in the viennese konzerthaus - that was an amazing evening! it seems in the acv, where the neil young concert took place, they do not know how to handle lots of people that want to drive home at the same time since we were stuck in a jam in the underground carpark until they opened the gates - so poor me could have saved the money for this expensive car park ;-)
find some time and watch 'im juli' - I really do recommend this fine piece of work - a mixture of a road movie (the route: hamburg - munich - vienna - hungary - romania - bulgaria and turkey) and a love fairy tale in a way, with fine locations and a great camera work, strong actors (and characters), lots of sounddesign-tricks, a tense plot - it gives you lust for living and what it's about finding the right person in life - in a way like a paulo coelho book - hm, uah, so now I don't know if this romantic excursion doesn't rather keep you off watching it - so here's the stop ;-) and I onlined holga04 (you really don't know what will come out of this crazy holga camera ;-) and horizon06 - and I updated the holga and horizon lomo galleries on this site!
so if you have lots of time - again lots of links to click ;-) |

2008-02-17 yesterday we've finally managed to watch 'gegen die wand' by fatih akin - a marvellous piece of work - definitely my favourite film at present! no extraordinary camera moves, noticeable editing or other cinematic gimmicks - and there's no need for it: great actors, a convincing story, great locations (hamburg and istanbul) - I really enjoyed every second of this movie (and immediately ordered all the other movies by fatih akin ;-) - and absolutely do recommend this movie - maybe you'll find some time for watching it!
at moment there are lots of interesting movies coming up: have a nice week - and maybe you'll find some time for reading the newest rainer nikowitz profil article - I really love his snappy columns about the poor, painful and embarrassing austrian politics / politicians! HELP! DEMOCRACY or DEMOCRAZY? |

2008-02-12 hey ho - some new horizon pictures here - I like this camera - and I hope I'll improve taking funny horizon lomos ;-) - some of them are on my lomo-home as well. 2008 I'm planning to watch at least one theatre staging a month - if possible in different theatres. so in january we've been to the lilarum and yesterday we've been to the volkstheater enjoying goethe's 'clavigo': a nice minimalistic stage setting, two unbelievable gifted actors (I enjoyed every second watching guenter franzmeier and michael wenninger) and a great light design - an entertaining evening, but I think (I always find something to complain about ;-) the icing on the cake was missing. find some time and visit compagnie-luna.at - in april there'll be a new staging in the theater an der gumpendorferstrasse - I'm definitely looking forward to this production since I absolutely enjoyed 'der tag an dem dada in seinen kopf stieg' - so maybe you'll find some time therefor as well! and since I'm a cultural-rambo (actually I do not find a proper translation for the german 'kulturrambo') it puts a smile on my face that the newest rambo movie has its opening day in austrian cinemas on valentine's day for a romantic evening ;-) so long - don't care about the bad weather and have a nice week! |
![]() |
2008-02-01 I've onlined some new holga lomos with perforation stripes (me likes them ;-) on gessman.ohost.de - maybe you'll find some time - and you'll also find some of them on www.lomohomes.com/gessman. hope you'll have a nice weekend! |

2008-01-28 today I got my first horizon-lomos - think it'll need some time and then I'll be very happy with this fine toy ;-) have a nice week! |
![]() |
2008-01-28 finally an actionsampler-gallery again (I have to use it more often - you'll see I'm lacking practice ;-) - and a new fisheye gallery. so long - all the best! |
![]() |
2008-01-13 wuhu - some new holga-lomos (I love the perforation) here and some new splitcam pics here (I also updated my lomohome www.lomohomes.com/gessman) - and I hope this week I'll get some lomos of my new horizon camera (I like my new toy!) to put them online (I'm very curious about those pics). since I've been quite busy the last months I haven't been to the theatre or cinema lately - so I was glad to watch 2 puppet theatre stagings at the lilarum-theatre in vienna last weekend (lilarum.at) - I didn't enjoy both stagings, but one was absolutely amazing (a beautiful look, detailed puppets, fine lighting, a highly talented vocalist and perfect animations - jep - it was (at least to me) definitely more than just the sum of its parts) - so do watch a puppet theatre if you get the chance! - so long, have a nice week! |

2008-01-10 lomo lomo lomo: I onlined fisheye gallery#34 (silvester upper austria) and updated my www.lomohomes.com/gessman - and I'm waiting for a splendid weather for some lomo-safaris! have a nice weekend! |
![]() |
2008-01-10 using the holga of a friend of mine I was very curious about my first holga-lomos (using a 35mm film instead of a 120mm) - well, I think I'll give it another try ;-) - although I'm not pleased with the results I put some of them here and on my lomohome www.lomohomes.com/gessman - so long! |

2007-12-20 wow, I'm definitely looking forward to the 1st of january 2008 when the new year's concert's over and I can take some days off - still lots of work to do. 'austrian kickoff' (the movie I've been working on in the last 3 months and still have to) will be screened on orf1, 1st of january, 11:50 - and the 'making of austrian kickoff' to it (my great appearance's at the end of this movie ;-) will be screened on orf2, 6th of january, 10:10 - so maybe you'll find some time to watch - but do drink some more alcohol on new year's eve if you do so ;-) and: two new fisheye lomo galleries: fisheye gallery #32 - I love the flying supercat pic (which is now on the starting wall of my lomo home) and fisheye gallery #33 (cat, dog, musikverein presentation 'austrian kickoff', upper austria, orf) - hope you'll find some time! so long - all the best for the new year! |
![]() |
2007-12-02 and again a new lomo-fisheye-gallery of a party in weinberg and the 'rotwein und prosciutto gelage 01' - most of them are "the nose knows best"-like: on www.lomohomes.com/gessman I try to sort my favourite lomos in some categories: the nose knows best - fisheye in love - fisheye animals - fisheye hands on - fisheye in the city - and so on. and my archive increases and increases ;-) and I'm looking forward watching the final sopranos season - and to the first of january (the busy working time should be over then when 'austrian kickoff' - the movie for the break of 2008's new year's concert - will be screened). and: I'm really looking forward watching 'city of men' - the sequel to 'city of god'. so long! |
![]() |
2007-11-28 long time no news: at the moment I'm quite busy working - but there's always some time for the fisheye ;-) the new fisheye gallery contains some lomos from upper austria and vienna - hopefully I'm able to upload another gallery in the next days! and there are some new tiny updates at my lomo-home if you find some time! so long! |

2007-10-28 some shorts will be shown in november on okto.tv (each at 19:00 and 19:50): anima (12.11), neegeh (13.11), plastikblumen (14.11), scribe (15.11), trinkfahrer (16.11) - maybe you'll find some time to watch - I'm happy that these short movies (actually each one has been lots of work) don't get dusty and will be screened. at the moment I'm quite busy working in the company on the movie for the break of 2008's new year's concert (the conductor will be georges prêtre) - still a lot of work to do but I think it will be a nice movie! I bought some new cds lately - one of my favourite albums right now is the new two gallants and I like the minimal house tracks of trentemoeller's 'the last resort'. I'm really looking forward to the newest maynard james keenan project 'puscifer' and the new radiohead album 'in rainbows' - and to the manu chao and bauchklang concert this week! the last nice event I've been to was the rocko schamoni 'sternstunden der bedeutungslosigkeit'-reading in the wuk some weeks ago - a very entertaining evening! so long! |

2007-09-15 puh - alarming things are going on in austria / vienna: find some time (5minutes actuallly) and watch the scary video about a demonstration in brigittenau - I got goose pimples when watching it. do especially listen to the words of harald stefan from the fpoe who says: "Der Islam ist ein zunehmendes Problem. Man muss ernsthaft darüber nachdenken, ob im Lichte der letzten Ereignisse, der Islam in Österreich eine anerkannte Religion bleiben kann." - wow - spooky words. should one buy this straCHE t-shirt or not? maybe not. but something totally different now: find some time and listen to the beautiful parov stelar - shine (from the great etagenoir label) and the brilliant soap and skin - fine music! now clashing with the style: I love this colossal monumental music video - dolphin simming out of an antonov ;-) lately I've bought element of crime's 'mittelpunkt der erde' - a brilliant album to my mind - especially for in length-decreasing-grey-rainy-days like these - and I absolutely enjoyed reading sven regener's 'neue vahr sued' - maybe you'll find some time for this entertaining book as well! |
![]() |
2007-09-04 ooooh yeaah! I've got a new toy and I like it! so you'll find my first splitcam gallery online - and, needless to say, a new fisheye gallery (naschmarkt, altes akh, linz). and I love this track: justice - phantom (stream on lastfm - the sound is daft punk meeting t.raumschmiere) - but I don't know what to say about h.c. straCHE (strache abuses the che guevara image on a rage against everything t-shirt ... 'vota el partido de la libertad' they say... - hm... I think I'm against that). and I bought some new cds: manu chao - 'la radiolina' (happy car driving music), tori amos - 'american doll posse' (she's an amazing artist), digitalism - 'idealism' (nice noisy discopunk) and justice - '+' (I love the noisy 'phantom'). and it would be interesting how many times I've listened to faith no more's 'king for a day, fool for a lifetime' ever since I bought this cd - still an album I enjoy everytime I listen to it! something totally different: there'll be new stagings of 'der tag an dem dada in seinen kopf stieg' - I enjoyed this creative production and can definitely recommend it! |

2007-08-29 back from a fine weekend in innsbruck visiting 2 good friends of mine - of course with heaps of fisheye lomos ;-) - maybe you'll find some time for the innsbruck fisheye lomos and the innsbruck digi pics - or for the oedoegoe upper austria fisheye gallery. and certainly I've updated www.lomohomes.com/gessman - hope you'll enjoy the pictures! and finally I've finished reading t.c. boyle's 'drop city' - a nice book to read I'd say! my next book will be either rocko schamoni's 'sternstunden der bedeutungslosigkeit' or sven regener's 'neue vahr sued' - hopefully I'll be a quicker reader this time ;-) so long - have a nice time! |
![]() |
2007-08-23 .... and again some new lomos on gessman.ohost.de and www.lohomoes.com/gessman - fisheye lomos from vienna, ooe weinberg, linz pulpmedia, vienna burggarten, volksgarten, company - hope you'll enjoy some of them! update: finally some new digi-pics again (but for sure, this weekends lomos are coming soon ;-) - nice weekend in innsbruck. |

2007-08-17 I love my fisheye! some new lomos (kahlenberg, augarten, company, volksgarten) here and on my lomo-home - hope you'll have some fun with these pictures! and find some time for watching the greatest motion picture of all time - tenacious d in the pick of destiny ;-) - I enjoyed watching this movie! |
![]() |
2007-08-14 2 new lomo galleries: vienna, ooe michaelnbach weinberg and weinberg, pulpmedia - and for sure some of them on my lomo home.
and I finally updated this site's fisheye gallery! |

2007-08-07 I've just finished a new movie project called 'der trinkfahrer und der radfahrer' - on the project website trinkfahrer.checkbit.com you'll find the movie and a making of - hope you'll enjoy this austrian machine-saw beer psycho ;-) - feedback's fine! so long! |
![]() |
2007-08-04 oh yeah - again some lomos ;-) at the moment I'm quite busy with my fisheye - so there are 2 new galleries: august08 (weinberg, co-workers, augarten kino unter sternen 'der dritte mann', eisenstadt) and urban art forms08 (again very fine!) - and for sure some of these lomos on my lomo-home. and I've just youtubed 'der trinkfahrer und der radfahrer': a tiny video project for the fun of it - the austrian beer machine-saw psycho, part one ;-) - I'm currently working on the making of and the project website trinkfahrer.checkbit.com - hopefully finished soon! and: the simpsons movie is worth watching it (but bart could be more evil...)! |
![]() |
2007-07-30 lomo lomo lomo! for sure again some new lomos of a nice weekend here (pesenbachtal, aschach) and some digi-pics here - and I really like my lomo-home - I just added some new minimovies there in case you find some time! and yesterday I watched 'wer frueher stirbt ist laenger tod' - I really enjoyed this movie (actors, characters, language, camera, color, editing, plot,...) - maybe you'll find some time for it - I definitely do recommend this movie! and finally we've watched the 'the third man' in the kino unter sternen - I also enjoyed this movie (good actors, funny jokes, critical elements considering the post-war-period, english and german language jokes - but an annoying zither-music ;-). so long! |
![]() |
2007-07-26 and again some new fisheye-lomos here! at the moment I'm working on a tiny movie project in my free time (at present there's lots of work in the company to do) - hopefully I'm able to finish it soon! so long! |

2007-07-24 again some new fisheye-lomos - all of them here and some of them at my lomo-home - hope you'll have some fun with them! |

2007-07-21 and again some new fisheye lomos (I won't use 200ASA films anymore) - all of them here and a selection at my lomo home - hope you'll enjoy them! this week I've been at the kino unter sternen (a very fine location) watching rainer werner fassbinder's 'die dritte generation' - a very stressful sound design, strange characters, extremely critical - well - I think this movie isn't predestined for an expected easy entertaining evening (alliteration!). yesterday we've watched 'death proof' by quentin tarantino - I think we shoud have watched it in english, the german dialogues didn't work out to me and were quite annoying by the time (some translated words do not work out and I think the german version is lacking this striking tarantino dialogue charm) . I liked the camera style but I don't think it's a great piece of art. definitely not as good as 'reservoir dogs' - I'd say there's no need to watch this movie (I've expected more of those special detailed tarantino-elements). so long! |

2007-07-14 added some new lomos (I definitely like the fisheye the most at the moment) - uploading them isn't that easy: all of them here - some of them here and for sure some of them at my lomo-home - once you've started it that way you can't stop ;-) at the moment I'm reading franzobel's 'austrian psycho oder der radikal hoedlmoser' - wow, what a book ;-) so long - have a nice weekend! |

2007-07-12 good news! rocko schamoni's 'dorfpunks'will be picturized! I'm really looking forward to this movie (like in heinzer strunk's 'fleisch ist mein gemuese' movie there'll be interesting actors) - and one of my next books will be schamoni's 'sternstunden der bedeutungslosigkeit' - sounds quite funny and interesting. last week we've watched 'derailed' - a quite entertaining movie I think: good actors and characters (I like clive owen), a well thought out plot (but the smart story needs some time to develop, so be patient and do remember the first shot of the movie - important for the end), nice turns, the look is fine - I can recommend this movie! and since I'm a big tool fan I hope there'll be a tool-movie: the newest visions-rumour says that adam jones (the guitarist and visual artist of tool, responsible for their great stopmotion videos) is searching for a money source - hopefully he'll find one! I like the tool videos more than the a perfect circle ones - nevertheless I've bought 'aMotion' (one dvd with music videos, one cd with emotive - remixes, I didn't like all of them) - interesting for fans I'd say. some different music: I like t.raumschmiere's 'grottenholm' - a fascinating track! this years summer's a bit moody - but the open air cinemas in vienna (filmfestival rathausplatz, kino unter sternen, krieau) are very fine - hopefully the weather will be as well. yesterday we went to cinema after work (in the viennese auhof center) - and when we came back to the cars my colleague was missing his new macbook... well - the skilled thieves didn't even destroy the lock. definitely a pity and not necessary. now quoting the police officer: 'woan wahrscheinli auslaenda' - uag, this stereotyped thinking doesn't ease anything I'd say. so long - and do earn your money in an honest way! |

2007-07-05 wow - I've got a huge question mark over my head after having watched david lynch's 'inland empire' - right now I'm a bit deranged I have to say and I'm thankful for your interpretation (one might be here). and I'm intending to update my lomo-home (lomohomes.com/gessman) more often from now on. |

2007-07-03 long time no news... lately I've been to some smaller theatres, I think I enjoy them more than the big ones like the burgtheater. this year I've seen 'ein sommernachtstraum' with peter simonischek and 'nathan der weise' with klaus maria brandauer there - but I think these stagings have to entertain a too big audience, so (at least to me) it seems there's hardly any innovative approach like in smaller theatres. i can really recommend enjoying 'der tag an dem dada in seinem kopf stieg' (compagnie luna - there'll be stagings again in autumn, so do make up your mind on your own! some weeks ago we watched 'lady di - koenigin der herzen' from franzobel in the phoenix theatre in linz (funny language, but the story and the actors didn't convince me) and 'dr. seltsam - das bombenmusical' in the scala (very very entertaining, lots of details, good actors, live musicians, creative stage design - I will definitely enjoy some other productions of this compagnie!) - and last week I've been to maschek's 'beim gusenbauer' in the rabenhof theater - I like thes 3 guys, they are often very funny (just watch my youtube favourites ;-) - so I mostly enjoyed this performance (to my mind there are some not so well thought out jokes in it, but that's ok since the length was 100min.) - but there's been a strange bawling annoying viennese wannabe audience. the last book I've read was david lynch's 'catching the big fish' - was very interesting to me reading about the way he develops his ideas and his personality. and (now the culture break follows ;-) I've been searching (not voluntarily) for the worst film on earth - I couldn't determine it right now - available are 'out for a kill: tong tatoos - das tor zur hoelle' (cool titles, great acting steven seagal performing a professor ;-) - and 'running scared' (oh my god, what a waste of time). but i'm in danger of watching the newest movie of the singing seagal - because of its cool title: 'prince of pistols' .... ;-). ok, I'll definitely stop now talking about shit. the last convincing move I've seen was children of men - I liked the actors and the characters they performed, the long camera-shots, the look, the timing, the unique scenes in it, the soundtrack (older rock) - maybe the plot isn't that fascinating, but this movie is definitely worth watching it. summer's arrived - time for lomo! and I'm currently working on a new tiny video project - I hope I'll manage to finish it soon. so long! |

2007-05-07 on the occasion of the instant36 festival we finally did a tiny video project (done in 36 hours) again - was lots of fun and the result 'scribe' can be downloaded at scribe.checkbit.com - maybe you find some time to watch! update: finally I've finished the making of - watch it at youtube - it's more or less just a souvenir for us (and for sure I could have spent much more time in it - but you know, you have to get to an end some time). so long! |

2007-04-22 well - finally some new music I'm satisfied with: from the last 4 cds I've bought i can definitely recommend you grinderman - 'grinderman' (grinderman is the formation that I saw in concert (nick cave solo) on the 13th of november 2006 in the konzerthaus vienna - a very very fine evening) - and I still have to make up my mind about nine inch nails - 'year zero', beatsteaks - '.limbo messiah' and powderfinger - 'vulture street'. and I'm looking forward to maschek's'beim gusenbauer' and watching some more sopranos. and do find some time and visit the wuk in vienna and watch 'der tag an dem dada in seinen kopf stieg' (by compagnie-luna.at, april 26th - march 3rd) so long! |

2007-04-01 nine inch nails in concert (gasometer vienna, 2007-03-30): hard and loud. good so. but definitely too short (just 90minutes that have past very very fast) - and maybe there should have been time for building up this special nin-atmosphere (hard and fast tracks following slow tracks) - however, it was great - and I wish I would have been there the day before as well (they did 2 concerts in vienna) because of the different setlists... nin setlist friday, 2007-03-30: pilgrimage - mr. self destruct - piggy - heresy - march of the pigs - closer - the becoming - last - wish - gave Up - help me I'm in hell - eraser - reptile - la mer - into the Void - no, you don't - get down, make love - down in it - hurt - the hand that feeds - head like a hole (lots of songs from the amazing 'the downward spiral' album - I missed 'dead souls' which they performed the day before) and I'm looking forward to the new nine inch nails dvd 'beside you in time' (amazon link) - and the new album 'year zero' (will be released in april 2007). and a former colleague produced the very interesting documentary 'the refugee show - an asylum in tourism' (trailer on earthnut.org): the long mountainous border between burma (myanmar) and thailand: for the refugees living there agriculture isn't allowed, leaving the village isn't allowed, college education isn't allowed - but the thai tourism has one further attraction: the refugees in these villages along the border get money for each ring they wear around their neck (they are known as "thai hill tribes" / "long neck people" / "giraffenfrauen" /padaung) - a vicious circle: the live in exile and are dependent on the tourism - an asylum in tourism. |

2007-03-11 lucky us we got tickets for the premiere of 'immer nie am meer' (village cinema, 7th of march 2007). to be honest I'm a bit disappointet about the movie - I think my expections have just been too high (actually I like stermann&grissemann and heinzer strunk very much). to me the plot was quite interesting (3men pinned in a car with bulletproof windows) - but I think the dialogues aren't that captivating and the jokes are sometimes lacking a sophisticated idea. cool thing was listening to the 3 actors and the director (antonin svoboda from coop99.at ) before and after the movie - and I got a little tree air refreshener for my car ;-). in a way it seems they (at least stermann&grissemann) enjoy the freedom to do whatever they want to and I guess that's o.k. the way it is - maybe they'll do another feature film that I enjoy more than their debut. and: music-video-director-genius chris cunningham finally did a music video again: the horrors - sheena is a parasite (youtube link). uah - I do not want to continue complaining - so I just want to mention I like his aphex twin - come to daddy best - and I can definitely recommend his collected works dvd (director's label)! and maybe you'll find some time to visit compagnie-luna.at (a theatre company in vienna). |

2007-02-23 good news! there'll be a movie based on heinzer strunk's fleisch ist mein gemuese! a marvellous book to me and hopefully a good movie (among the actors: heinz strunk, rocko schamoni - and bela b. as gurki ;-). yes - I'm waiting for the release! (like for the new beatsteaks album 'limbo messiah' in march). and: I'm looking forward watching immer nie am meer. the last book I read was matias faldbakken's 'the cocka hola company' - provoking and offensive (a book of a misanthropist in a way) - don't really know yet if I like it or not - but a movie based on this book (maybe in trainspotting - style) could be quite amusing (by the way - do watch 11:14 if you find some time, to me a very entertaining movie using an interesting way of story telling). a book I can recommend is daniel kehlmann's 'die vermessung der welt' - a story about 2 well known scientists (mathematician carl friedrich gauß and explorer alexander von humboldt) that have lots in common and are very different at the same time . and together with a colleague I'm going to start / launch 50x50i.com during the next weeks (a site for tiny movies, 50 seconds interlaced) - and maybe you'll find some time for lichtung.org (a project - architecture - of some friends of mine) and compagnie-luna.at (theatre company). so long! |

2007-01-13 well then - a tiny relaunch has been done! I have to commit that I just changed the stylesheet and hardly adapted the content. but I'm confident I'll do more updates, separate out old content and start new sections like the lomo (you'll find a pic of the lomo cam in each gallery now) in the near future. and I started some lists so that I won't forget music / movies / books I like anymore (they're definitely not finished yet). here's the link to mytube if you find some time: youtube.com/user/gessman13. so long! |

2007-01-06 another tiny update: I added, or rather removed, some works (graphics and multimedia) and uploaded more lomo pics. for a long time I haven't been to the theatre. last monday we watched shakespeare's 'a midsummer night's dream' (the german version in the burgtheater). to me it wasn' that sensational - I think I prefer tragedies to comedies in theatres. and I'll definitely watch some other stagings this year. |

2007-01-05 I think I'll do a bigger update soon. meanwhile I started sorting my lomo pics and cameras - so maybe you'll find some time clicking on the pic on the left. so long! |

2005-07-15 added some of my lomo-pics from the hagenberg-class-reunion at the attersee - watch them here (2 galleries: actionsampler and supersampler cam). well - right now I'm quite busy working on a hd-compositing (air2air shots of an air-challenge) and some smaller projects in the company - cool things, but I'm definitely looking forward to my 3 weeks lasting trip to and through scandinavia in august!
kevin bacon once more did a convincing job in 'the woodsman' - so
maybe you'll find some time and watch this movie! however, have a nice time and see you soon on this site! |

2005-06-27 great weekend behind me meeting lots of former fellow students at a campsite next to the attersee - was nice meeting this lovely people again and I'm forward to this come-together next year! watch some pics here (lomos to come). and I did a tiny update on harri's page [hel.checkbit.com] considering the scandinavian trip in august. |

2005-06-19 for putting my lomo-pics from the southside festival online I did a tiny update and created the lomo-section. the page itself would definitely need an relaunch - but that would take too much time.
since I've finished nick cave's first novel 'und die eselin sah den engel' I'd be
very interested in a film version of this great book. |

2005-06-15 back from the absolutely marvellous southside festival - I really enjoyed this weekend! watch some pics here - I'll online my lomo-pics from this festival about next week. so long - have a nice time! |

2005-06-01 long time no see - been quite busy in the last weeks: together with a colleague I've finished 'wachau - hinter den kulissen' (will be screened on the 5th of june, orf2), working on the concept, directing and editing it. pretty piece of work I think. the documentary itself, 'wachau - land am strome', will be screened on the 8th of june, orf2 (I've been assistent editor for this absolutely marvellous film, find some time and watch it!). well - and in my rare spare time I enjoyed a rocko schamoni reading in the wuk (he was reading out of 'dorfpunks', a quite funny guy!), listened to lots of music (nine inch nails, eels, geoffrey oryema, lali puna, le hammond inferno, karate, freakpower, markus kienzl, lots of drum and bass and breakbeat - hm, in a way it seems I appreciate all kind of music at the moment), reading, visiting nice friends in rosenheim / munich, and taking lots of pictures with my new lomography-cam (click on the pic to get to my first lomo-gallery). and I'm absolutely looking forward to the southside-festival next week and my trip to the nordkap and through sweden afterwards in august (read more about it here). that's it for the moment - hope to see you again on this site! |

2005-05-04 wow - the new nine inch nails album 'with teeth' is absolutely convincing - listen to it here - but believe me - this album is worth buying it! and I'm absolutely looking forward watching them in concert again on the southside festival! since I've spent some good time in the past with nice people I'm planing to create a tiny website with some 'fun-pics' - we'll see if I find some time for it (at the moment there's lots of work going on in the company finishing a universum documentary about the wachau and a making of about it, on which a colleague and I are busy working - will be screened in the beginning of june). meanwhile I'd like to invite you watching a new triple-screen gallery here - and if you are in a good mood watch the crazy and funny 'the life aquatic with steve zissou' from wes anderson (royal tenenbaums)! so long! |

2005-04-23 last weekend I worked on a new movie: plastikblumen - the preproduction / shooting and postproduction had to be done within 36 hours since we participated in the instant36 festival). so it was a hard weekend and week (lots of work going on in the company and working on the website and dvd of 'plastikblumen' as well) - watch some pics from the shooting here. well - and last thursday I've been to the donaufestival in krems, watching the 'chor der schreienden männer', the non-guitar playing chicks on speed and alec empire - think I won't watch this guy anymore. and the festivals are coming - so I've already booked my ticket for the southside-festival (a great line-up there!) and I'm absolutely looking forward to it meeting old friends there! and if you find some time on wednesday evening (2005-04-27, 21:00) watch doppelsterne on br-alpha (more about it here - but be warned: I never said I like this movie :-) have a nice weekend! |

2005-04-05 back home again from the bimini animation festival in latvia (participating with neegeh): it was an absolutely marvellous trip when enjoying the great animations of this festival as well as riga, the baltic sea and for sure the lovely people of the bimini-festival - so DO have a look at the pictures! and as a matter of travelling to latvia I've become a writer for wohlgemuth.at - so maybe you'll find some time reading my article 'im land der stiefel' (in german only)! in the last time I've been very busy going to some exhibition - I can definitely recommend you the pictures and the movie 'mounted by the gods' by alberto venzago (it's a pitty the westlicht changed the program). and for sure I've spent lots of money and time on the new records of the mars volta, killers, kills, queens of the stone age, beck, kettcar and trail of dead - so maybe you'll find some time and listen to them (or enjoy some free easy-listening music on play.fm, soma.fm or some fine drum and bass vibes on drumandbass.de or something like that. I think I'll definitely have to relaunch my page cause I would like to do more detailed reports on the movies (last ones were 'sophie scholl - die letzten tage' and '2046') - and books I'm reading (actually I've read lots of stuff like rocko schamoni 'dorfpunks', heinz strunk
'fleisch ist mein gemüse' or wladimir kaminer 'die reise nach trulala' in the last weeks) . but lucky me I'll go on leave accompaning my crazy former soccer coach harald hel again: this time for three weeks in august when driving by car to the nordkap and watch him setting his next world record on his scooter for 4000kilometres from the nordkap back to upper austria (I've been accompaning him in 2001 when going on the sidewalker through australia, from adelaide to darwin) - so I'm really looking forward to this trip! wow - think I've never done a longer report before! hope to see you on this site again! |

2005-03-08 last weekend I've been to rosenheim / munich for enjoying the mars volta and trail of dead in concert (both in the muffathalle) - 2 really smashing concerts (the mars voltas have been breathtaking)! watch some pics here. so long! |

2005-02-23 last week I've been to binder & krieglstein's concert in the fluc mensa - an absolutely convincing jam session of this fanatic drummer and his great singers when performing songs varying lots of music genres! and I've already checked the tickets for the mars volta (munich, 2005-03-04) and trail of dead(munich, 2005-03-06) - I'm really looking forward to it, due to I'm absolutely enjoying their new albums ('frances the mute' and 'worlds apart')! and for sure, I've been to the cinema: hubert sauper's award-winnning darwin's nightmare
was very exhausting to me and I really felt queasy when watching this documentary about the life around lake victoria (mwanza in tanzania): every day tons of the giant nile perch (introduced in this lake decades ago) are exportet to europe, the pilots of the huge airplanes (that are suspected of transporting weapons to africa) spend their money on the prostitutes around the lake, others guard the fish companies,... what amazed me was how important education for the interviewed people is - they do know that only knowledge may
change their situation. go out and form your own opinion about this movie that will definitely arrest your attention! and last week my neegeh-pal zuud returned from his nearly 3 months lasting nepal / sri-lanka trip - watch some pics from the airport waiting for his arrival and from the kunsthaus when enjoying the bettina rheims-exhibition. and: in the end of march we'll travel to riga when joining the bimini film-festival!
wow, lots of information this time... |

2005-02-07 think I enjoy going to the cinema in the last time... the last 2 movies have been 'ray' and 'mathilde' - and I think they're both worth watching it. 'ray' is a sensitive movie with a very convincing main actor (jamie foxx), nice pictures and (for sure) a relaxing soul-soundtrack. 'mathilde' was a lovely movie, but to my mind the director used to many 'amelie'-elements (numerous loving details, a narrator), whereas nice compositings and a non-chronologic storytelling have been very interesting, though you can foresee the end... and finally I've added 2 new picture galleries (vienna and rosenheim / munich / langenstein ). so long! |

2005-01-22 the last 2 times I've been to cinema have been quite satisfying - house of the flying daggers (the sequal to hero (amazing landscapes, colors, fight scenes,...) is a quite good movie (although the story isn't that exciting), but didn't impress me like old boy did: this korean movie contains an ingenious script and amazing actors: especially Choi Min-Sik who performs Oh Dae-Sue: the main character has been kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years without knowing why and then been discharged without knowing why. the story develops meanwhile he's searching for the reason why and taking revenge (there're some real violent scenes in this film) on his captors and their client. the surprising end accomplishes this perfect movie, which shows great camera movements (for example there's a 4minutes fight scenes shown in a great one shot) and has a quite amazing sounddesign and soundtrack - so go out and watch it! it's really worth it! here you'll find the 'old boy' trailer. the last cds I've bought were 'crimes' from the blood brothers (a real strange album, needs some time to listen to but then it gets better and better!) and 'source tags & codes' from and you will know us by the trail of dead - a very very recommendable album (and I need to buy their new album 'worlds apart'). good news: blood brothers in concert in vienna, 2005-04-12, flex! and I'm looking forward to the new albums of the mars volta, nine inch nails, queens of the stoneage and some more coming this year. in 2003 I've watched christoph schlingensiefs 'bambiland' without knowing that our neegeh-actress aysegül yüksel played a big role in it - so we've been to the burgtheater again and watched "atta atta" and "bambiland" (again I've to say that to my mind it gets harder and harder for him to shock his audience - maybe he'd achieve this goal when directing / acting something commercial... through all the 'bad news are good news'-"reportages" in all media the threshold of being touched / embarrassed got higher and higher and so it's not easy to awaken someone). and my former soccer coach harald hel's going to travel from upper austria to the nord kap - ~4000km on his scooter in 4 weeks! read more about it at hel.checkbit.com. and something absolutely different: again there's been a graduation party (this time in linz on the 15th of january) - watch some pics here (there you'll find some of the pics I took) and here. well then, that's it for now - enjoy your time! |

2004-11-05 while the citizens of the united states reelected their president this week I've beem busy with finishing the dvd of neegeh and listening to the new a perfect circle album 'eMOTIVe', which I can really recommend (it's less aggressive than the previous albums, includes a great cover version of john lennon's 'imagine' and deals with peace and war) - and tomorrow: mark lanegan in concert (flex)! and today we've watched The Motorcycle Diaries - a very very good film! the metamorphosis of the young ernesto guevara (think you know the actor from amores perros) during his long trip through latin america is shown with beautiful pictures of the amazing landscapes, moving camera, non-continuity editing, good actors, lovely tiny jokes, and so on - so go out and watch it - it's worth it! well then - have a nice weekend! |

2004-10-09 anima in graz again: our movie is one of the final three nominated short films of the trigital film festival 2004! and some music stuff: the last cd I bought was 'abattoir blues / the lyre of orpheus' by nick cave and his bad seeds and I really enjoy this album(s) - just like mark lanegan's 'bubblegum'. and DO listen to the stream of a perfect circle's interpretaton of john lennon's 'imagine' - very powerful to my mind (the album 'eMOTIVe' will be released on the 2nd of november - think I'll do some shopping on that day)! here's a MUST for good music videos fans! some rock music links although I nearly go out for drum and bass events only - some fine links: young rotations, zive.at, junglistic sistaz. and: at the end of next week neegeh.com will contain some content!

2004-09-23 yesterday we've watched the premiere of silentium - an excellent movie to my mind (the script differs from the book, but it's quite interesting how those unique wolf haas - characters have been picturised). josef hader was in the cinema and did some talking about silentium before the movie started - a very brainy man with his own cool sense of humour - I'm curious about his new cabaret ('hader muss weg', 8th of december). " ... heast wos woits.... i bin jetz links ...."
find some time and watch the movie - think I'll watch it again: dark pictures,
dark sofa surfers sound, well thought out jokes in language and picture, allusions to salzburg, festspiele, church,
drugs, leberkäs, excellent actors, guest appearances by christoph schlingensief, dirk stermann or herbert fux, the best end of a car chase ever ;-), ingenious stiegl product placement, and so on .... |

2004-09-19 yes! last tuesday I graduated from the fh hagenberg (media technology and design) - so there was some partying to do ;-) by clicking here you'll get to see some pics of who-t's party in schaditz. in the next 2 weeks neegeh should be ready for download - and then I'll spend my free time with reading, travelling and soccer instead of sitting in front of the computer! so then - 4 good years of study over, now the other life starts... I've also been busy with going to the cinema last week and I can really recommend jim jarmusch's |
